FOR EMPLOYERS.
Breaking the Chains graduates arrive trained, certified, and ready to contribute. Partner with Pittsburgh APRI to build a workforce that reflects the community and stays for the long term.
Our participants are ready to work. We make sure they get the training they need to succeed in a wide range of work environments. Every participant receives workplace training, financial literacy, and life skills development so they are ready to contribute to an organization and their community from day one.
When you hire a graduate, you gain a worker who has already proven their commitment through a demanding program, and a partner in Pittsburgh APRI invested in their long-term success.
Participants in the Breaking the Chains program complete training and earn six industry-recognized certifications before they reach your worksite.
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.
NIOSH OSHA 30 hour construction safety.
Safe identification and removal of mold.
PennDOT approved flagger and traffic control.
American Red Cross First Aid and CPR.
Environmental literacy certification.
Throughout intake and training we screen participants for emotional and intellectual maturity. Candidates meet the program requirements and adhere to a strict tardiness and absence policy. During training, classroom behavior, work ethic, and dedication to success are evaluated every week.
Participants attend six site visits to skilled trades joint apprenticeship training sites and manufacturing facilities, where they gain hands-on experience under the supervision of journeymen tradespersons. Every participant must pass a drug screening to enter the program and is subject to additional screenings throughout the eight weeks of training.
