The Pittsburgh Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute will gather supporters, labor leaders, and community partners for its 2026 Gala on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. This year's celebration carries the theme "The Power of Partnerships," a salute to the collective strength that moves the organization's mission forward.
The evening will spotlight what becomes possible when labor leaders, community advocates, elected officials, and corporate partners work side by side to expand opportunity and advance economic justice across the region. APRI's leaders point to those relationships as the engine behind real, lasting change in people's lives.
The Gala will also highlight the impact of APRI's workforce development work, including the Breaking the Chains of Poverty pre-apprenticeship program, which continues to open doors to family-sustaining careers in the building trades, manufacturing, and energy sectors for people who have too often been shut out.
Throughout the night, APRI will honor leaders whose work reflects the power of partnership and progress at the heart of its mission. The honors carry the names of movement figures whose legacies still guide the work: the A. Philip Randolph Award, the Bayard Rustin Award, the Maida Springer Kemp Award, and the Oliver Montgomery Award.
Guests will join host Richard Fitzgerald in celebrating shared accomplishments and in standing together as partners in advancing equity, opportunity, and economic mobility throughout the region.
